PERSONAL LIBERTY FOR ALL
Problem:
Religious Liberty is constantly under attack and Christian values and freedom of religion are in danger of being taken away. Parents are being treated as if their children belong to the state. Individuals are being told what we can and can’t do based on what either political party deems is right for their political purposes. Politicians yield to special interests rather than to the public good when making laws, thus restricting individual rights. The loss of any liberty in the Bill of Rights will have a domino effect on losing all liberties.
How did this happen:
Delaware passed Senate Bill 234 that outlaws spanking of children, thus making parents who do so criminals. HB 334 passed this year making Common Core testing the only test and puts in place a system where government determines our children’s career path, not the child or parent. There have been numerous attempts to undo the First and Second Amendments of our Constitution under the scheme to make us more understanding and safe. When what it really does is take away our choices and limits our ability to practice our faith and secure our personal liberty.
The rule of law in Delaware today is that the majority should be forced to live the way small special interest groups want us to live. This is for the good of government and those who wish to control our lives, but is not good for the majority of those living in our state and is a great threat to personal liberty.
What can be done:
1) Call your legislators and tell them to repeal SB 234 and HB 334 and return parental rights back to the parents.
2) Vote only for those who support our rights and will protect personal and religious liberty.
3) Support Empowerment Scholarship Accounts which give every parent control over their children’s education. This uses funds already in place.
4) Communities need to come together and say “I’m mad and I won’t take it anymore.” Government works for us and they need to represent us, not special interests.
5) Support the rights of people of faith to practice their faith without government intrusion. If freedom of religion can be taken away, then they can take away all freedoms in the Bill of Rights. We must stand with everyone whose personal liberties are stolen by any government body. Be not afraid, we all stand together against injustice and injustice will be defeated.
“I know of no safe repository of the ultimate power of society but people. And if we think them not enlightened enough, the remedy is not to take the power from them, but to inform them by education.” Thomas Jefferson
